Best Practices for Responsive Email Design

Mobile technology has changed how consumers connect to brands via email. Today, more than half of all emails are opened on mobile devices. To keep up with this trend and ensure that your customers look forward to your emails, follow these design tips:

Layout: Use a single-column layout so that your email looks sharp on multiple device types. Multiple-column layouts can appear cluttered on narrow screens.

Fonts: Choose a font that is clean, easy to read, and large enough to be read on a small screen without causing eye-strain.

Copy: Keep your copy short, and put your most important content at the top of your email so that your customers can read it without having to scroll down.

Images: Use smaller, responsive images that will load quickly and adjust to the size of your customers’ mobile devices. Be sure that your images include alt tags.

Once you’’ve implemented all of the design tips listed above, make sure you’re testing your email before sending it out to the masses. This will ensure that your email renders well on all devices.
